What’s Next: April Development Highlights

Wesley Des Moines – Creekside

We anticipate starting the work on Creekside at Wesley Des Moines toward the end of this month. The anticipated completion date is near the end of 2027. Apartment reservations are expected to begin for current Captain’s Club members (Wesley Des Moines’ waiting list) in the next few months once permits are issued by the City of Des Moines and financing is in place. Demolition of the former care center is scheduled to begin by early May with construction of Creekside starting soon after.

Captain’s Club members will receive an invitation to an upcoming information event in late spring or early summer. Pricing and floor plans will be provided. At this time, our Community Relations team will begin contacting our Captain’s Club members who are interested in Creekside in order of their deposit date to select an apartment. Reserving apartments in Creekside requires an up-to-date confidential application, Entrance Deposit Agreement and 10% of the Entrance Deposit  of which $5,000 is non-refundable. More details will be provided at the events.

Once Captain’s Club members have had the opportunity to select an apartment, we will open reservations to those who are not on the waiting list. We expect this to be sometime later this year.

Creekside at Wesley Des Moines

Creekside is a new independent living building planned on the northeast corner of the campus where the former Wesley Des Moines care center is located.  With four floors of spacious apartments over a level of enclosed parking, a top-floor club room and exciting new outdoor amenities, this new lifestyle choice will be similar to Wesley’s Brownstone style of accommodations.

Apartments range from 800 to 1,800 square feet offering One Bedroom, One Bedroom plus Den/Sunroom, Two Bedroom and Two Bedroom plus Den/Sunroom arrangements. Some apartments have a convenient half bath for guests while others feature wrap-around or double decks. Early depositors will have options for upgrades including flooring, countertops, window coverings and appliances.

Wesley Des Moines – The Terrace Renovation

From updates to the apartment corridors to the transformation of the first floor dining and auditorium, renovation work in The Terrace is well underway.  When finished, The Terrace will be home to the Julia C. Moser Performing Arts Center, a new modern dining room and enhanced bistro. These new amenities will also be easily accessible to Creekside residents via a covered walkway.

The apartment corridors are also getting modern updates: new trim work, paint, carpet, artwork and lighting. Level 2 was the first to be completed. Levels 6 and 1 are well underway with levels 3, 4, 5 and the leisure level to follow. Rumor has it the Wesley Community Foundation is spearheading exciting renovations of the spa area on the leisure level with a special décor theme.

Wesley Bradley Park in Puyallup – East Brownstone & Care Center

With three stories over parking and more than double the number of apartments of the West Brownstone, the East Brownstone is visually impressive. It is exciting to see the stone siding and apartment balconies that are in progress outside. Inside, work is happening from the top floor down. Cabinets, countertops and flooring are going in throughout the building and the apartments. The high ceilings and big windows are beautiful! 

After 12 months of marketing, nearly 70% of the apartments are reserved. The campus is running at full occupancy. There are a few East Brownstone apartments available. Reserving now gives you a clearer move-in timeline and more time to plan with confidence. The East Brownstone is projected to be move-in ready by November 2026.

The Barndt Family Rehabilitation & Care Center is scheduled for completion in 2027, a bit later than originally scheduled due to permit delays. The aerial views clearly show the foundation of the new care center and our construction team expects framing will begin in May.  Licensed to provide skilled nursing and long-term care, the new Barndt Family Rehab & Care Center will have private suites for restful recovery from major health events and provide peace of mind for residents and the greater community as availability allows. Offering the full continuum of care on one campus makes it easy for residents and family members to visit loved ones – providing convenience and peace of mind.

Wesley Spring Glen Update

We continue to work with our developer, architect and contractor to develop this significant Wesley project. Permit questions and responses are underway with King County. We are working on financing with the goal of starting construction next spring.

King County Permits:  We have resolved all issues related to the site, drainage, slopes, etc.  Our architect has completed the changes to the Town Center, including removing the church offices, and submitted them to the county. Our team responded to the county’s latest comments and is now waiting for final review. We expect the county to issue building permits within the next month or two.

Timing: Based on permitting, site requirements and financing, the site work required for this building is extensive. We must start in spring to keep from incurring wet weather conditions and costs. We still anticipate a spring 2027 start of construction. With this latest projection, Wesley Spring Glen would open in fall 2029, about 2.5 years after the start of construction and just about 3.5 years from now.
