A Summer of Milestones

Here are our exciting August construction updates!

Wesley Des Moines

Creekside

One of the more popular moments during the redevelopment of The Gardens side of the Wesley Des Moines campus was the erection of the tower crane. Last week, we installed a tower crane for Creekside. There are many new L&I safety rules for tower cranes now, and ours passed inspection this week. In the meantime, the footings were poured for the north wings. The footings for the south wings get poured later this month, and our framer will start building walls in September. All continues to go well. We are excited about this new addition to Wesley Des Moines!

Reservations Are Rolling In for Wesley Des Moines Creekside!

We are off to a great start with 12 apartments already reserved by Captain’s Club members. Our team continues to contact those who have expressed interest in Creekside in order of their priority reservation date to select an apartment. If you are a Captain’s Club member interested in Creekside, please be sure to email Stacy Johnson, Community Relations Director, Team Lead, with your interest if you have not done so already.

Reserving apartments in Creekside requires an up-to-date confidential application, Entrance Deposit Agreement and 10% of the Entrance Deposit of which $5,000 is non-refundable.

Once Captain’s Club members have had the opportunity to select an apartment, we will open reservations to those who are not on the waiting list. We expect this to be as soon as September.

About Creekside

Creekside is a new independent living building planned on the northeast corner of the campus where the former Wesley Des Moines care center was located.  With four floors of spacious apartments over a level of enclosed parking, a top-floor club room and exciting new outdoor amenities, this new lifestyle choice will be similar to Wesley’s Brownstone accommodations.

Apartments range from 800 to 1,800 square feet offering One Bedroom, One Bedroom plus Den/Sunroom, Two Bedroom and Two Bedroom plus Den/Sunroom arrangements. Some apartments have a convenient half bath for guests while others feature wrap-around or double decks. Early depositors will have options for upgrades including flooring, countertops, window coverings and appliances.

The Terrace Renovation

Renovation work on the new bistro, dining and the Julia C. Moser Center for the Performing Arts is ahead of schedule. Work is expected to be complete in September 2026 with these areas open in October.  The new modern dining room and enhanced bistro will be available to all residents on campus.

The apartment corridors are also getting modern updates: new trim work, paint, carpet, artwork and lighting. Level 2 was the first to be completed. Levels 1, 3 and 6 are well underway with levels 4, 5 and the Lower Level to follow. Rumor has it the Wesley Community Foundation is spearheading exciting renovations of the spa area on the Lower Level with a special décor theme.

For a limited time, we are holding Entrance Deposits for The Terrace apartments at 2025 rates. Once construction is finished in The Terrace in September, these rates will increase. We still have Alcove and One-Bedroom apartments available for immediate move in. Now is the time to make your move to Wesley Des Moines before the new performing arts center and renovated dining experience are open. Enjoy all the new amenities that this special community has to offer including award-winning fitness programs and popular Wesley U classes. Wesley Bradley Park in Puyallup

East Brownstone

The East Brownstone looks great inside and outside. Landscaping is going in around the building, and paving, curbs and striping are happening in the parking lot. We are excited to see the outdoor kitchen pavilion and bocce ball court installed in the back. This promises to be a fun new social space for the whole community.

Inside, the apartments on levels 2 and 3 are complete with level 1 progressing quickly. We expect to receive the Certificate of Occupancy from the City of Puyallup in mid-October and begin move-ins around November 1.

Future residents of the East Brownstone are attending special move-in information meetings later this month. These events are designed to provide helpful information about moving to a new building at Wesley Bradley Park with an early introduction to Executive Director Karen Williams and the rest of the Bradley Park team.

75% of the apartments are reserved! If you’ve been on the fence about selecting your apartment, now is the time to act. View available apartments at Wesley Bradley Park here.

Remember, contact Joan or Nicole today to reserve your apartment so you don’t miss out.

Barndt Family Rehabilitation & Care Center

Construction is ahead of schedule on the care center. We can now see the pitched roof going on the building! The Rehab & Care Center is scheduled for completion in August 2027.

Take a look at the progress in this video flyover provided by Walsh Construction Company.

Licensed to provide skilled nursing and long-term care, the new Rehab & Care Center will have private suites for restful recovery from major health events and provide peace of mind for residents and the greater community as availability allows. Offering the full continuum of care on one campus makes it easy for residents and family members to visit loved ones – providing convenience and peace of mind.

Spring Glen Update

A special thank you to those who joined us for our focus groups last month. We greatly appreciate the feedback you provided about amenities and programs. A high-level overview of the results is available here.

Our development team continues to work with King County for the permit. They are currently answering the last round of questions and comments which they will submit back to the County toward the end of August. We are hopeful the permit will be issued shortly after that response.

Based on permitting, site requirements and financing, the site work required for this building is extensive. We must start in spring to keep from incurring wet weather conditions and costs. We are still working toward a spring 2027 start of construction, but there is a possibility it could push to spring 2028. Construction will take approximately 2.5 years.
