Campus Growth in Motion

Development update June 2025

Wesley Bradley Park

East Brownstone Progress

May was a month of concrete work on the new East Brownstone and thankfully, the weather cooperated. Walsh Construction Superintendent Anthony Mizen told residents, “My rain dance worked—it didn’t start sprinkling until we walked off the deck with the last finishers. The little bit of rain that followed actually helped the concrete cure.”

Bradley Park residents stay informed with monthly construction updates shared by Anthony. The final area of the PT (post-tension) deck was poured on June 2nd and the remaining smaller slab-on-grade pours for the apartment sunrooms happen next. Within the next month, framers will be onsite and we will start seeing walls go up for the first floor of the East Brownstone.

Care Center Update

Wesley is waiting for the City of Puyallup to issue the building permit for the Barndt Family Rehabilitation & Care Center. Once we receive the permit, construction will be going in both locations on campus.  While parking is tight with all the construction movement, we still welcome visitors to the campus and have reserved some guest parking in front of the Lodge and Brownstone for those interested in meeting with Joan or Nicole.

Reserve Your Apartment Early

Finish boards displaying color schemes and upgrade options arrived last week. If you reserve an apartment in the East Brownstone, you can select which color scheme appeals to you and choose upgrade options such as appliances, flooring, countertops, and window treatments.  As a reminder, the first 10 families to reserve an apartment in the East Brownstone not only get the best choice of apartments, you will also receive our early bird move in package worth up to $5,000. If you’ve been putting this off, you’ll want to hurry as there are only 4 spots left for this special package.

Terrace Renovations

With a stunning club room, intimate studio theater, and model train room, the second floor in the Terrace is undergoing an amazing transformation in Phase IV of our redevelopment. Former assisted living studio apartments are becoming beautiful one- and two-bedroom independent apartments. Fifteen families have already reserved their new home in the Terrace which are on schedule for move in the last week in July. We still have three one-bedroom apartments left on this newly remodeled floor! If you are interested in reserving an apartment in the Terrace, please contact Lindsay at (206) 870-1205.

Once second-floor renovations are complete, crews will move downstairs to start renovating the Terrace auditorium, dining room and kitchen.  With valuable resident input, plans are taking shape for the new Julia C Moser Performing Arts Center. Early peeks of the design show a surprising transformation. We look forward to sharing visuals in the near future.

Creekside Planning Phase

InSite Architects is designing a new independent building for the Des Moines campus where the former care center still stands. Phase V will introduce Creekside with ~100 apartments on 4 floors over one level of parking.  The Creekside lifestyle will be similar to the Brownstone lifestyle offering a la carte dining, monthly housekeeping, and its own club room for group gatherings and entertaining.

We’ve been finalizing apartment plans, financial projections and architectural drawings and our construction team is collaborating with subcontractors to design the mechanical, electrical and plumbing for Creekside. The City of Des Moines is currently reviewing documents and working with us toward permitting. At this time, we expect to start construction toward the end of March, 2026.

Design Updates

We continue to work with our development team and King County with hopes of starting construction in 2026 and opening in late 2028. Our architect is making minor changes to the plans to remove spaces previously identified for Nativity Lutheran Church. These slight modifications give us more gathering space on the main floor and a more direct entry with a sightline through to a two-story hearth room. This should be a striking visual looking out on the courtyard and natural areas behind the building.

More amenities are now on the main floor allowing us to expand dining and event spaces to the floor above and the exercise areas, theater, and woodcrafts on the floor below.

We are currently accepting priority list reservations and anticipate restarting apartment reservations later this year.
