Dear Wesley Family and Friends,
For the past 27 years, I have been blessed to serve as part of Wesley’s ministry, providing care and services to many wonderful older adults. Throughout my career, I have felt God’s calling to this work, and the accomplishments we have achieved together reflect His hand in all we do.
It has been a tremendous honor to have served Wesley for these many years, and after much prayer and thought I, along with my wife Barbie, have decided that now is the right time to step away from my role at Wesley and retire. At the July 20th meeting of the Board of Trustees, I notified them of my intent to retire in the summer of 2027.
During that time, I have had the privilege of watching Wesley grow from a single retirement community in Des Moines into four residential communities serving older adults throughout South King and East Pierce counties. Through our communities and Wesley Health & Home Care, we now enrich the lives of approximately 1,600 older adults each day.
Over the years, I have had the privilege of working with caring and talented staff, a leadership team that helped bring my dreams to life, outstanding Boards who recognized the need for growth, and devoted residents and business partners who believe in Wesley’s mission. I am deeply humbled and proud to have shared this journey with all of you.
Although my journey at Wesley will be coming to an end, this ministry of serving older adults must continue to grow. The need for quality housing, healthcare, and support services for older adults has never been greater, and I am confident Wesley is well-positioned to meet that need for many years to come.
Currently Wesley enriches the lives of over 1600 older adults daily through community, choice and continuing care. With your continued prayers and support Wesley will be able to expand its mission as our country continues to age. The need for what we do is tremendous, we must continue to respond to this need!
In preparation for this leadership transition, the Wesley Board of Trustees has initiated a comprehensive plan. A Search Committee has been appointed and will work with professional advisors to identify and recruit Wesley’s next President & CEO.
I know that God will continue to bless this organization just as He has done over the last 82 years. Wesley is in a very good place for the future with a solid foundation. God will be with us on our journey as we are reminded of this in Isaiah 41:10:
“So do not fear, for I am with you; do not be dismayed, for I am your God. I will strengthen you and help you; I will uphold you with my righteous right hand.”
