Wesley Des Moines Terrace under construction renovations

What’s Taking Shape at Wesley This Spring

This month’s update includes progress across several Wesley communities, including Creekside at Wesley Des Moines, the East Brownstone at Wesley Bradley Park and planning for Spring Glen.

Wesley Des Moines

Creekside

Good News! Financing for Creekside was approved on April 27, and Walsh Construction is now mobilizing to begin demolition of the former care center building to make way for new apartments.

We expect the first residents to begin moving in by late 2027.

Now that financing is complete and construction is underway, we are getting closer to accepting apartment reservations.

Later this month, we will be contacting current Captain’s Club members (Wesley Des Moines’ waiting list) with invitations to Creekside information events scheduled for late June.

After these events, our Community Relations team will reach out to Captain’s Club members who are interested in Creekside—in order of their deposit date—to begin selecting apartments.

Reserving an apartment in Creekside will require an up-to-date confidential application, Entrance Deposit Agreement and 10% of the Entrance Deposit (of which $5,000 is non-refundable). Additional details will be shared at the events.

Once Captain’s Club members have had the opportunity to select apartments, we expect to open reservations to those who are not currently on the waiting list later this year.

About Creekside

Creekside is a new independent living building planned on the northeast corner of the campus where the former Wesley Des Moines care center is located.

The building will feature four floors of spacious apartments over a level of enclosed parking, along with a top-floor club room and new outdoor amenities. This new lifestyle option will be similar to Wesley’s Brownstone accommodations.

Apartments will range from 800 to 1,800 square feet and include a variety of layouts such as one-bedroom, one-bedroom plus den/sunroom, two-bedroom and two-bedroom plus den/sunroom options. Some apartments will include a convenient half bath for guests, while others will feature wrap-around or double decks.

Warbler, 870 square feet, One Bedroom, One Bath

Mallard, 1,100 square feet, 1 Bedroom, 1.5 Bath, plus Sunroom

Kingfisher, 1,300 square feet, Two Bedroom, Two Bath

Eagle, 1,800 square feet, Two Bedroom, Two Bath plus Den

The Terrace Renovation

From updates to the apartment corridors to the transformation of the first-floor dining and auditorium spaces, renovation work in The Terrace is well underway.

When complete, The Terrace will be home to the Julia C. Moser Center for the Performing Arts, along with a new modern dining room and enhanced bistro. These new amenities will also be easily accessible to Creekside residents via a covered walkway.

Apartment corridors throughout the building are also being updated with new trim work, paint, carpet, artwork and lighting. Level 2 was the first to be completed. Levels 1 and 6 are well underway with Levels 3, 4, 5 and the Leisure Level to follow.

Rumor has it Wesley Community Foundation is spearheading exciting renovations of the spa area on the Leisure Level with a special décor theme.

For a limited time, Entrance Deposits for The Terrace apartments are being held at 2025 rates! Once construction is completed, these rates will increase. We currently have alcove and one-bedroom apartments available for immediate move-in.

Now is a great time to make your move to Wesley Des Moines and enjoy all the amenities this community has to offer—including award-winning fitness programs and popular Wesley U classes.

Wesley Bradley Park in Puyallup

East Brownstone

With three stories over parking and more than double the number of apartments as the West Brownstone, the East Brownstone is an impressive addition to the campus.

It is exciting to see the stone siding and apartment balconies taking shape on the exterior. View aerial drone footage of the construction this month. Inside, work continues from the top floor down, with cabinets, countertops and flooring being installed throughout the building. The high ceilings and large windows are already making a strong impression.

As we get closer to completion, approximately 70% of the apartments are reserved.

Future residents of the East Brownstone have been getting together to meet one another and begin building community. Over the next few months, we will be hosting additional events to support social connections, provide moving resources and share important information about transitioning to the East Brownstone at Wesley Bradley Park.

Today, the campus is operating at full occupancy, but a limited number of East Brownstone apartments are still available. Reserving now provides a clearer move-in timeline and gives you more time to plan with confidence.

Contact our team today at Wesley Bradley Park to reserve your apartment.

The East Brownstone is projected to be move-in ready by November 2026.

Barndt Family Rehabilitation & Care Center

The Barndt Family Rehabilitation & Care Center is scheduled for completion in 2027, slightly later than originally planned due to permit timelines.

Recent aerial views show the foundation clearly taking shape, and our construction team expects framing to begin soon.

Once complete, the care center will be licensed to provide skilled nursing and long-term care, with private suites designed for restful recovery following major health events. It will also serve the broader community as availability allows.

Offering a full continuum of care on one campus provides added convenience—and peace of mind—for residents and their families.

Wesley Spring Glen

We are continuing to work through the permitting process with King County and expect to receive the building permit within the next month or so.

Construction costs are coming in favorably, and we are now working closely with our lending partners to finalize financing.

Last month, we traveled to Minnesota to meet with our developer and architect to review planning and design elements for Wesley Spring Glen. We also toured a comparable community to gather ideas and inspiration for amenities and apartment features we may incorporate.

To gather additional input, we will be hosting focus groups—both in person and online—on May 22 and May 29. Register for a time and date that works for you. We encourage anyone interested to participate.

King County Permits:  We received another round of comments and questions from King County to which our architect and engineers are working on a response. We expect the county to issue building permits within the next month or two.

Timing: Based on permitting, site requirements, and financing, we continue to target a spring 2027 start of construction, although timing could shift to spring 2028. Construction is expected to take approximately 2.5 years.
