A new day is coming! Introducing the new campus of Wesley Des Moines!
Wesley is redeveloping its Des Moines campus in order to provide for more modern amenities and independent lifestyles. The redevelopment will progress in a series of phases and is expected to be completed in 2022.
Phase 1A: Cottages
The first phase of the redevelopment created new Cottage clusters on the south side of the campus. The Cottage homes were completed in 2017 and are available in a variety of styles.
Phase 1B: Cottages & Brownstone
To finish Phase I, another three Cottage clusters were built along with the two story, 24 apartment Brownstone building. Like Phase 1A, some of these homes are now occupied by current residents relocating for the next phase and others are available to new residents.
Phase 2: Garden Apartments
Beginning in 2018, Phase 2 of the Des Moines redevelopment includes construction of the new Gardens building. The new apartments will feature a beautiful modern design and many terrific views of surrounding area and Puget Sound. We anticipate this phase will be completed in 2020.
Phase 3: Assisted Living & Memory Care Apartments
Scheduled to begin as early as 2020, Phase 3 will involve construction of the new housing with services/assisted living and Memory Care apartments as well as 11 new Cottage homes. The memory care residence is designed for seniors with Alzheimer’s disease or dementia. These apartments are private residences in a secure setting with a kitchen, private bath and independent climate control.
Phase 4: Care Center
Expected to begin in 2022, the last part of the redevelopment phasing will build a 60 bed Care Center with private suites in smaller neighborhood settings.

- Why is Wesley redeveloping its Des Moines campus?
Wesley's mission is to meet the physical, social and spiritual needs of those we serve. As we continue to serve our community we must strive to meet the changing needs and wants of new generations of older adults and their families. - What does this mean for current residents? Where will they live?
Wesley is committed to the residents we serve today. This grand project has been phased in order to accommodate current residents and relocate them in comparable accommodations. Current buildings will be deconstructed only after the new buildings are completed and residents have relocated to their new homes. - When will this be completed?
The entire redevelopment project is expected to be completed in 2024 but new homes and buildings will be completed in phases until that time. Please see the phasing plan above for more details.
